Join us for our annual Sea Buckthorn Festival! Sample Sea Buckthorn leaf tea, Sea Buckthorn juice, jelly, and chocolate! On hand will be our international prize winning Sea Buckthorn cream. Explore our Sea Buckthorn orchard and harvest your own nutrient rich Sea Buckthorn berries.
Join us at Cultivate, the sweetest event of the year! This free event takes place along the street and river banks outside of the festival. 60 vendors including 20+ of the best butter tart bakers in the world, 25 food and beverage artisans, arts + crafts, and more.
Come and enjoy spectacular art from a select group of artists displayed in a tranquil garden setting! Mosaics, pottery, metal art, painting, jewelry, body care. You'll be able to try some testers and purchase your creams and salves here.

We’re small but we’re mighty! Make it Indie is a venue for regional artists, crafters and other sorts of cool peddlers to come out and sell their handmade wares. This year's show will feature but is not limited to the following: glass, wood, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, clothing, comestibles, micro beer, soap & body care, and Visual Art.
St. Andrew's United Church, Grafton is hosting their 10th 100-Mile Diet Event on September 10th from 12 to 4 p.m. at Grafton Arena located at 10766 County Rd 2.
The Mission Statement for this event is: “To encourage & showcase local products produced on the land & to live with respect in creation”.
Why should we support local producers? Why should we shop locally? Where does your food come from? How is it prepared? What is in your food? This is your opportunity to have these questions answered. Shop & meet your local farmers. Sample their foods. Ask questions about their products.
Pure Joy Herbal Creations provides local, nourishing skinfood. We grow the plants, hand-harvest them, dry them in our solar dehydrator and make small batches with our own natural preservative. There's nothing in them that you couldn't eat, which is good, since whatever you put on your skin gets into your body. Come taste some Sea Buckthorn berries and maybe Johanna will make some jelly again this year.
Gather at Fifth Wind to learn about the healing properties of herbs and all the steps in basic salve making. In this workshop you will go through the process of making a nourishing skin balm that is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, soothing, and helps skin regenerate. Take home a sample jar to enjoy. $35.00

Sample various herbs grown in our herb gardens and organic veggies as they are baked in our outdoor wood fired cob oven. Basil pesto with feta and sundried tomatoes; Rosemary, potato, sweet potatoes and cheese all baked in a thyme crust. Culinary herbs have medicinal value as well and these will be focused on as we savor our creations. $35.00
This workshop is offered in collaboration with Headwaters Farm. We'll walk through the gardens and harvest the mineral rich spring herbs to create a special vinegar (to take home) to spice up summer salads. Lunch is provided and we can taste some different vinegars with our salads. $65
Take a walk on the wild side at Fifth Wind. Learn about the many common, renewable, edible and medicinal wild plants and herbs growing in Northumberland County. Herbs and wild plants contain many healing constituents which make them valuable as remedies. Learn to identify, harvest and preserve these plants as food and medicine. Experience the edible array of species here and perhaps discover some that grow in your own yard.

Time for the Holiday shopping or just replenishing your own creams and salves. We are creating a new gift pack with the favourite creams, salves and lip balm. Try some of the samples and enjoy the gifts of the home grown plants and nourishing products for you skin.

Come with friends and family. Dress in Purple or not. Meet your local farmers and the Purple Onion Mascot too ! Take a selfie on the Purple Onion Bench. Kids and adults alike are invited to write their Eat Local Challenge Action on the Wall. Join us for the Dance for the Climate..sample the delicious local food served by local chefs under the Taste of The Kawarthas Tent. And did we say enjoy the all day entertainment from local artists and jazz bands; and buy locally grown food from local farmers. And, sit in a brand new electric car or hybrid. Or hop on a E bike to get a feel for where our personal and public transportation vehicles are heading. Oh yes you can buy some art from local artists and if you dance for the climate with us you might just meet Captain Climate Change.
